Huge earthworks job out to bid for £150m rail testing facility

The World Centre for Rail Excellence would be the world’s first built-in testing facility for each rail infrastructure and rolling inventory.

The bold venture will see the redevelopment of the 500-hectare Nant Helen opencast web site on the southern fringe of the Brecon Beacons.

Superior preparation work would require 3 million m³ of earth to be shifted earlier than work on the everlasting rail infrastructure can begin.

The profitable contractor will even present short-term drainage throughout the building part in addition to everlasting drainage for the finished scheme.
